LOST AND FOUND COLONY/CONESTOGA COURAGE
By Faith Reese Martin,
2008, Blue Works/Windstorm Creative

“Lost and Found Colony, by Faith Reese Martin, is a winning combination of history, supernatural, and mystery.  It’s an adventurous romp from the present to the past and back again.  Martin’s breezy style will delight young readers as a twelve-year-old girl, a boy, and a terrier attempt to solve one of America’s oldest mysteries.”

PIRATE PROBLEMS
By Faith Reese Martin

Faith Reese Martin knows how to grab hold of her readers on page one and keep them hooked all the way through to the end. Weaving together history, mystery, time travel, action, and suspense—along with a good helping of humor—she spins tales that are intriguing, imaginative, and altogether enchanting.  The main characters in her JMP History Mystery Detective Agency series, Jinx and Max, are believable and lovable. Their pets, Petey and Poppy, are quirky and engaging. In each book the readers are given an opportunity to learn about a specific time and place in our country’s history while going on a wild adventure right along with the characters. I have read her books to my sixth grade reading classes, and they have responded with enthusiasm and delight. Her books are written for intermediate-age children, but I have to say that I love them, too!

FAITH REESE MARTIN’S SCHOOL VISITS PROGRAM

Faith Reese Martin came to visit the sixth graders at Martin Meylin Middle School and was given a hero’s welcome. The children were so excited to meet the woman who had created the delightful characters they had come to love—Jinx and Max, along with their faithful sidekicks, Petey and Poppy. She came armed with an appealing PowerPoint presentation, Petey and Poppy puppets, and even a “talking” parrot. Using her finely honed skills as an educator of thirty years, her program was informative as well as entertaining. She held the children’s attention throughout her presentation, and they came away even more enthused about the JMP History Mystery Detective Agency series, and about the possibilities of becoming writers themselves.

Author Faith Martin provides an engaging presentation for her student audiences. Her presentation combines entertaining personal anecdotes within a discussion of an author's life and work.  Faith's teaching background is evident in her feel for what details interest kids. Without hesitation would I recommend Faith for your school's author visit!
