“How Time Flies” - Autobiography

Faith Reese Martin grew up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, an area rich in beautiful farmland and full of historical events that helped to shape our nation.
Childhood in the Susquehanna River Valley was a bit more laid back in the 50’s and 60’s. Summers were filled with nickel-a-dip ice cream cones, furry dogs, and firefly chases. Winter brought the biggest, deepest snowfalls ever known to children.
Church, home, and Scouts played an important role in teaching values. Fathers worked hard, everyday, to provide new Keds sneakers in the spring and new dresses and shirts for school in the fall. Leave It to Beaver and Captain Kangaroo supported those ethics in good, wholesome TV entertainment.
Crisp, clean play clothes in the morning, clean sheets at bedtime, plenty of home-cooked food, and neighborhood Moms to keep watch over the kids as they played in acres of backyards; life was good.
Then came school with a whole new world of adventure, bringing books and reading. School days felt like school daze as that happy experience zoomed by so quickly. College days were fleeting. Thirty more years of teaching zipped by before that first novel got written.
Now, Faith uses those life lessons and her love of nature to dream up exciting mysteries for children. Life is still good.
